A community commitment to  quality child care for all families in Bucks County.

Child care supports ALL children and families. Child care environments include nursery schools, preschools, learning centers, day care centers, in-home family day care and after school programs for children up to age 13.

To strengthen awareness of child care issues through public education - To share information and responsibiltiy for providing the very best in child care- To bridge efforts to ensure children enter school ready to learn and succeed - To increase quality, capacity and variety of child care care programs - To improve training and resources for early childhood educators - To advocate to policy makers to ensure that they understand child care issues.

The Department of Public Welfare is striving to improve child care for ALL children across the state of Pennsylvania. DPW has awarded planning grants to counties who are seeking to achieve the same goal. By providing the funds needed for community members to assess needs, identify gaps and barriers and develop goals and objectives, an action plan has been developed. Additional funds will be used to improve both the quality and quantity of child care for ALL Bucks County families.

The Quality Child Care Coalition of Bucks County is working to include input and support from all child care providers, business and industry, school districts, the medical community, policy makers, human services and community leaders. Our plan identifies resources for training child care providers so that the quality of child care can be improved through professional development. Through the planning and implementation processes, the child care community will link with local school districts so that each of these groups can become partners in preparing children for entering school. By increasing child care capacity through nontraditional care, family child care, licensing providers and before and after school programs, major needs will be addressed.

Quality Child Care Coalition of Bucks County is a partnership among members of the community who are leading the way in improving the quality and quantity of child care.

Quality Child Care Matters!
Research has shown that children enrolled in quality early childhood programs tend to be more successful in later schooling and are more competent socially and emotionally.
